Olympic Gold Medalist and World Champion Laura Wilkinson will take her place among the world’s most famous swimmers and divers when she is inducted into the 2017 class at the International Swimming Hall of Fame on August 25-27 in Fort Lauderdale, Fla.
The holder of 19 U.S. national diving titles, Wilkinson is one of only a handful of divers to have won a gold medal at every major international diving competition during her career. In addition to her Olympic gold in 2000, she won at the Goodwill Games in 1998, the FINA World Cup in 2004 and at the FINA World Championship in 2005, with each of these titles coming on platform.
Currently Laura spends her days as a motivational speaker, writer, mentor and mother of three, but her passion for diving has led her to a comeback at age 39, with the goal of qualifying for the Olympic Games in 2020. She chronicles her journey on her website and has produced an uplifting video titled Dreamchaser about her road back to competition.
Follow her journey at laurawilkinson.com and congratulations to Laura!
